Runnymede - On our way to Windsor, we drive past Runnymede, where King John sealed the Magna Carta on June 15th, 1215. We also see the memorial to John F. Kennedy, which now stands on American soil.
Windsor Castle State Apartments* - This impressive royal castle was built, occupied and loved by the royal family for over 900 years. We see the ceremony of the Changing of the Guard** and visit the recently restored State Apartments. Highlights include the Waterloo Chamber, St. George's Hall and the Van Dyck room. We will also see paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt and Canaletto.
St George's Chapel - This splendid chapel, burial place of Henry VIII, Charles I and George VI is where the Knights of the Garter are still installed and stands within the castle precincts. The Knights' banners still hang over the carved choir stalls.
If the Chapel or State Apartments are closed, we will see Queen Mary's Dolls House - a perfect stately home in miniature.
