Cameron Mackintosh has confirmed that Miss Saigon will reopen at the Prince Edward Theatre in May 2014.
Miss Saigon is set in 1975 during the final days of the American occupation of Saigon, Miss Saigon is an epic love story about the relationship between an American GI and a young Vietnamese woman.
Kim is working in a sleazy Saigon night club owned by a notorious wheeler-dealer known as 'The Engineer'. John, an American GI, buys his friend Chris the services of Kim for the night. That night will change their lives forever.
American high school student, Eva Noblezada, 17, will make her professional stage debut in the production as Kim in Miss Saigon. The cast also includes Jon Jon Briones (The Engineer), Alistair Brammer (Chris), Hugh Maynard (John) ,Tamsin Carroll (Ellen) and Rachelle Ann Go (GiGi).
Jon Jon Briones was in the ensemble in the original cast of Miss Saigon when the show originally opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and has subsequently played the role of The Engineer in the Philippines and on tour inthe UK and US . Alistair Brammer made his professional stage debut as ‘Marius’ in the West End production of Les Miserables at the Queen’s Theatre and was also in the smash hot film of the musical. He can currently be seen as ‘Billy’ in the West End production of War Horse.
Tamsin Carrol was recently seen as in Barnum at Chichester Festival and was last seen in the West End as ‘Nancy’ in Oliver!, a role she also played in her native Australia, for which she was awarded the prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Hugh Maynard played the role of John in the first and second national UK tours of Miss Saigon and was most recently seen in the tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. Rachelle Ann Go is a well-known TV star in the Philippines having won their Search for a Star contest and is a double-platinum recording artist.
