While the UK goes sports mad with the Olympics 2012 in London you might be wondering if it is possible to avoid sports this summer. If you are not a sporting fan, you are probably worried about the expected wall to wall tv coverage and take over of London, but whether you be a local to London or visiting the city (not for the Olympics) there are other things to see and do including going to upcoming West End shows !

The 2012 Summer Olympics in London from 27 July to 12 August will be the biggest event that the city has ever hosted and will certainly put all of London to the test from transport and security to hospitality and entertainment, as to whether London can successfully pull off hosting the world's largest sporting event. I believe with the amount of foreign visitors to the city, the West End Theatres will thrive, however some theatre owners are less positive and have already announced certain theatres closing for the London Olympics.

Even in today’s day and age, when everybody is busy on weekdays with work, home or studies, there are some people who insist on making a trip to the Box Office themselves to buy theatre tickets. On the other hand, most smart theatre lovers turn to clicking away to procure discount play tickets for any of the shows being performed in London.

So where is the best place to go when star spotting in London's West End? You can shell out a wad of cash to get into a hot London nightclub perhaps - there's always likely to be someone kinda famous knocking back the shots in Mahiki or China White's at the weekend.

What does London, Tokyo, Las Vegas, Budapest, South Africa and New York all have in common? All currently stage productions of the Phantom of the Opera! In 2011, the Phantom of the Opera in London celebrated it's 25th year annivesary at Her Majesty's Theatre but it has shown it's world wide appeal with productions taking place in 4 continents.

It is small wonder that We Will Rock You is still one of the most popular choices for a West End theatre night out when Queen's music and influence is still pervading our current music scene. The show has been playing to packed audiences since 2002 at the Dominion Theatre and its success shows no signs of slowing down.
