A love letter to Sheffield and a history of modern Britain told through the stories of one iconic estate, Standing at the Sky’s Edge charts the hopes and dreams of three generations over the course of six tumultuous decades.
A brief history
The multi-award-winning musical first premiered at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre in 2019. The critically acclaimed production, directed by artistic director Robert Hastie, saw rave reviews and was subsequently revived at the theatre three years later, before then transferring to the Olivier Theatre at the National Theatre. The show received eight Olivier Awards while playing at the National Thetare, winning the award for Best New Musical and Best Original Score or New Orchestration.
The production is now making its highly anticipated transfer to the West End. Opening at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from February 2024.
