The new musiclal Once, winner of eight 2012 Tony awards including Best New Musical, at the Phoenix Theatre is a celebration of love, friendship and music.
In Once an Irish busker and a young Czech mother meet through a shared love of music, their songwriting sparks a deep connection and a tender, longing romance that neither of them could have expected. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together.

The book of Once is by the award-winning Irish playwright and screenwriter Enda Walsh, based on the 2007 Academy Award winning film, written and directed by John Carney with music and lyrics by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. The Oscar winning independent Irish film was shot in 17 days and was made for $150,000. It went on to gross $20m worldwide becoming a critically acclaimed international smash. The soundtrack was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
On Broadway Once won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production was also named Best Musical by the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critic Circle and Lucille Lortel Awards.

The Once the Musical London cast is led by Declan Bennett and Zrinka Cvitesic as Guy and Girl respectively. Decylan Bennett has appeared on Broadway in Rent and American Idiot, while Zrinka Cvitesic has been a member of the Croatian National Theatre since 2005 and has won awards for her film work. The Cast also includes Valda Aviks, Ryan Fletcher, Aidan Kelly, Gareth O'Connor and Michael O'Connor.
