ARRIVES AT THE GARRICK THEATRE SPRING 2011
The Hurly Burly Show®, directed by William Baker, arrives in the West End in spring 2011, running at the Garrick Theatre from 3 March – 1 May 2011, with press night on Friday 11 March. Following a critically acclaimed limited run earlier this year at the Leicester Square Theatre, The Hurly Burly Show® has musical direction by Steve Anderson, choreography by Ashley Wallen, vocal arrangements by Terry Ronald and lighting by Nick Whitehouse. The Hurly Burly Show ® is produced in the West End by AEG Live and Steve Dixon.
The Hurly Burly Show®, starring Miss Polly Rae, is an all singing, all dancing burlesque inspired revue with a contemporary twist, magically fusing the traditions of burlesque and bawdy cabaret with modern day fashion, music and popular culture. With spectacular costumes, sets and lighting, the beautiful Miss Polly Rae and her six Hurly Burly Girlys elegantly focus on the tease and take audiences on a unique, provocative journey full of wit, joie de vivre, and celebration of the female form.
Polly Rae is the founder and lead artiste of The Hurly Burly Show® and is an established burlesque soloist and vocalist. Her show, also known as Miss Polly Rae and Her Hurly Burly Girlys started its life at the Soho Revue Bar five years ago and under the current creative team has been developed for this West End production; The Hurly Burly Show®.
William Baker is best known for his creative work with Kylie Minogue and is a director of live music shows as well as a photographer and stylist. His critically acclaimed work with Minogue includes directing her world tours and music videos; and the creation of her iconic image. Baker has also collaborated with some of the biggest names in music and fashion including Victoria Beckham, Britney Spears, Lily Allen, Jamiroquai, Bjork, Leona Lewis, Westlife and Il Divo. William made his theatre directing debut in 2007 when he directed a 'remixed' version of the musical Rent at The Duke of York’s Theatre. In 2008, Baker was awarded the Visionary Award at the Elle Style Awards.
Steve Anderson is also renowned for his work with Kylie Minogue, having been her musical director since 1998, working on every tour and appearance including Showgirl, X and The Sydney Olympics as well as being her producer for songs such as Confide In Me and the White Diamond film score. He has also worked as musical director for Westlife, Christophe Willem and Rent at the Duke of York’s Theatre, also directed by William Baker. He has produced, written and remixed songs for Take That, Britney Spears, Westlife, The Pet Shop Boys, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney and is currently executive producer and writer for forthcoming albums by Christophe Willem, Elouise and The Ultra Girls as well as musical director for Kylie’s Aphrodite - Les Folies 2011 World Tour.
Ashley Wallen is currently working as choreographer on Ghost the Musical and associate choreographer on Madonna’s film W.E due to be released in 2011. His other credits as a choreographer include Dance X for BBC1 where he also appeared as a judge and mentor alongside Arlene Phillips, The X Factor and It’s Now or Never, both for ITV, and Rent at the Duke of York’s Theatre. Wallen has choreographed for many artists including Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, James Morrison, Leona Lewis, Sugababes, Will Young, Lemar and Gabriella Cilmi. His on screen dance credits include Moulin Rouge and Phantom of the Opera and on stage he has performed with Mariah Carey and Kylie Minogue.
Steve Dixon is a tour director, production designer and manager. He has worked with artists including Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Shakira, Mariah Carey, Hilary Duff, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Il Divo, Guns and Roses, Barry Manilow and Wynonna Judd and on productions such as Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, Celtic Woman, Burn the Floor and most recently, Kylie Minogue’s first ever tour of the USA. With the formation of Roadrage Group, Ltd. in 2009, Dixon partnered with William Baker and lighting and technical designer Nick Whitehouse to conceive The Circus starring Britney Spears, Il Divo’s tour and the upcoming Kylie Minogue Les Folies 2011 Tour.
