Celebrating its twentieth anniversary year, the award winning Beautiful Thing by Jonathan Harvey comes to the Arts Theatre for a limited run.
Beautiful Thing is an urban love story between two young men set on an inner city housing estate. It tells the story of teenager Jamie’s relationship with classmate and neighbour Ste. This uplifting and heart-warming new production is directed by Nikolai Foster, designed by Colin Richmond and stars Suranne Jones as Sandra.
Suranne Jones rose to prominence playing the role of Karen McDonald in Coronation Street. Subsequently her TV roles have included Vincent, Strictly Confidential, Scott and Bailey and The Secret of Crickley Hall, Her numerous stage credits include A Few Good Men, Top Girls and Blithe Spirit.
The Beautiful Thing cast also features Zaraah Abrahams (Leah), Oliver Farnworth (Tony), Jake Davies (Jamie) and Danny-Boy Hatchard (Ste)

Beautiful Thing is written by Jonathan Harvey whose stage credits include Boom Bang-a-Bang, Rupert Street Lonely Hearts Club, Hushabye Mountain, Out in the Open and most recently Canary, He also wrote the book for the Pet Shop Boys musical Closer to Heaven. He is a regular writer for Coronation Street and wrote the cult TV series Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.
