For the first time in the West End, Great Expectations is presented as part of the international Dickens bicentenary celebrations at the Vaudeville Theatre

Despite its many previous dramatized incarnations, this is the first time Great Expectations has been presented as a full-scale stage play in either the West End or on Broadway.

Great Expectations recounts the story of a poor lad called Pip Gargery and his entanglement with embittered and reclusive Miss Havisham en route to wealth and status, and is perhaps the best loved Dickens tale of all.

Graham McLaren's 'outstanding', 'haunting' and 'utterly brilliant' production brings some of the most memorable characters ever created to life. The beautiful, chilling Estella, the terrifying convict Magwitch, the manipulative Jaggers, the tragic and mysterious Miss Havisham and Pip looking back on his young self - a boy with 'great expectations'.

'A striking piece of theatre… potently evocative… a dreamlike quality' Daily Telegraph'

Heightened, hallucinatory Dickens… a surreal macabre dream… there's no denying the inventiveness' Daily Express

'A resounding success… manages to communicate in 2 hours and 20 minutes, [the book's] humanity…more importantly; it works as a stand-alone piece of drama' Sunday Telegraph‘

'It’s two sharp one hour acts honour both playful demands of living theatre and the themes of the book.’ The Times

The Great Expectations play cast includes Jack Ellis (Jaggers), Chris Ellison (Magwitch), Paula Wilcox (Miss Havisham), Paul Nivison (Adult Pip), Grace Rowe (Estella) and Taylor Jay-Davies (Young Pip).
