The Lieutenant of Inishmore opened at The Other Place in Stratford-Upon-Avon in May 2001 and transferred to the Pit at London's Barbican for a sell-out season in January 2002. The pointless and desolate waste that results from the continuing troubles in Ireland is Martin McDonagh's (Author) central theme and he explores this with accomplished theatrical brilliance.
