A Dish of Tea with Dr Johnson

Karl Sydow presents the Out of Joint production
A DISH OF TEA WITH DR JOHNSON

A sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival and a big hit on tour, Max Stafford-Clark directs this acclaimed play celebrating Samuel ‘dictionary' Johnson's unique take on life, featuring a universally-praised, moving central performance from Ian Redford as the man who achieved greatness against the odds.

It’s adapted from the writings of his friend James Boswell, who is among the many other colourful characters to appear, including George III, and Hester Thrale, the society hostess who broke Johnson’s heart, Hester Thrale.

"Every line chimes. Ian Redford conveys all Johnson’s humour, rage, melancholy, sweetness and brilliance"
