Puttin' On The Glitz - Drag Divas review by Daniel Rubio

Posted on 24 August 2012

Daniel Rubio and his friends went to see the sequinalicious Drag Divas last night which is playing a limited run at the Arts Theatre every night at 10.15pm until this Saturday.   It features canny tributes to some of pop's finest - Shirley Bassey, Madonna, Lady Gaga and more.  Here are some of his thoughts on the show:

London Theatre Direct were kind enough to invite my friends and I to a fun night out at the Arts Theatre in London's West End.

"Fierce, fabulous and fearless" is what the leaflet read and boy, "Drag Divas" did not disappoint!  Five drag queens and two dancers took the stage for well over an hour to perform some of the biggest gay anthems by the music industry’s best-loved divas, including Cher, Madonna and Tina Turner.  Now, most drag shows are just a miming, flamboyant fest, but this one takes it to a whole new level; most of these ‘ladies’ can really sing!

Highlights - Rob Tucker's flawless rendition of Etta James' "At Last", Chris Dennis' hilarious impersonation of Liza Minnelli, a very special Spice Girls jumping around to "Wannabe" and the eye candy both dancers provided during the whole thing.

All in all, a great, fun night out.
