Gypsy At The Savoy Theatre: It’ll Be Swell. It’ll Be Great. I Can Tell. Just You Wait!

Anybody who saw this sensational sell-out performance at Chichester will be squealing as much as I am at the hotly anticipated West End transfer of Gypsy. Everything's Coming Up Roses For Imelda Staunton

With a transfer to the Savoy Theatre announced for Chichester Festival Theatre's Gypsy, I look forward to it's star, Imelda Staunton's much anticipated return to the West End.

Gypsy at the Savoy Theatre, with music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents follows the story of a typical stage Mother, Rose played by Staunton, trying to push a family act to be successful on the 1920s and 30s vaudeville circuit.
With musical theatre classic standards such as 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' and 'Together Wherever We Go', Gypsy is tipped to be a sell out success when it transfers to the Savoy Theatre in March.

Gypsy At The Savoy Theatre And Its Many Revivals

As the news is released that the recent Chichester Festival Theatre production of Gypsy starring Imelda Staunton is preparing itself for a limited run at the Savoy Theatre next year, I think it’s fair to say that this is as good a time as any to take a look back on the many incredible productions of one of my favourite musicals there has been, and the incredible talents who have taken on the role of Mamma Rose along the way...

Cats - On Its Way Back To The Top!

In 1981 the idea of a musical about singing and dancing felines would have made even the sanest person sound crazy. Over three decades later the idea is still not very appealing to many.  How can nearly three hours of theatre with little to no storyline possibly keep an audience entertained? To this day I still don’t know the answer, yet Cats has landed back on its feet at the London Palladium providing a magical and unforgettable night at the theatre.

Absolutely Paw-some: Cats at the London Palladium

It is a rare thing for such a regular theatregoer like myself to get to experience something that is as magical as seeing a childhood favourite live on stage for the first time: considering I go to West End shows around four or five times a month, I’ve seen everything I’ve loved since I was too young to go to the theatre with anyone other than my Grandma. Cats is different though – Cats is a show that I have adored for as long as I can remember, but because it closed when I was only a mere two years old, I never got to see anything more than the 1998 filmed performance. However, this all changed on Monday night and tears of joy followed...

Cats leaped onto the stage at the London Palladium on Saturday as the Jellicle cats meet for the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy decides which cat is worthy to be reborn, as they rise up to Heaviside Layer for a new Jellicle life.

Review: Just Exactly When Did I Sign that Jersey Contract?

I've been very lucky in the last week to have seen three very diverse shows. When I was sat in Jersey Boys for the ?? time it made me question? What is it about this particular show that keeps me returning? In fact it is rare that I leave the theatre without having booked Jersey Boys tickets for my return visit.

Made In Dagenham: The New Hottest Ticket In Town

I've been waiting for Made in Dagenham The Musical to open at the Adelphi Theatre for a very long time now, and because Made In Dagenham is my all time favourite non-musical movie as well, I've been waiting with very high hopes. So, as soon as ticket sales opened up, I booked to go to the first Saturday evening after the official opening (I hate previews) to finally quench my thirst for the show, and was pleasantly very satisfied!
