What is The Tin Drum about?

Oskar recognises the world to be a universal disaster, rejecting it entirely despite being barely born. In a world that is at the dawn of the National Socialist regime, Oskar doesn’t have many opportunities to grasp in order to grow and survive. Having been thrown into a world with nothing to give him, it all seems a bit void for the boy, until his mother promises him a tin drum. Finally, an acceptable prospect is born and a chance for survival unfolds: the life of a drummer and an observer.

The Berliner Ensemble

The Tin Drum production comes from German theatre company The Berliner Ensemble.
