Yang Liping: Rite of Spring tickets are now available for the London return of China's most iconic choreographer and dancer.
Known in China as The Peacock Princess, Yang Liping met resounding acclaim when she brought her first contemporary work Under Siege to Sadler's Wells in 2016. She returns to London with her second contemporary work in 2019. Her reimagining of Igor Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring sandwiches the iconic score between original compositions inspired by traditional Tibetan music.
Reuniting with Oscar-winning designer Tim Yip, Liping melds traditional Tibetan and Chinese symbols with the story of The Chosen One. In this story, The Chosen One takes the form of a peacock and we follow her on a journey from fear and doubt to conviction and acceptance of her decision to sacrifice herself for the greater good. Rite of Spring promises to breathe new life and meaning into this classic tale.
