Tickets for The Greatest Play in the History of the World available now!

Following its premiere at the Royal Exchange Theatre and a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival the following year, The Greatest Play in the History of the World is living up to its lofty name and has transferred to London’s Trafalgar Studios for a limited six-week run. Coming to London for an exclusive run from 26 November 2019 to 04 January 2020, this might be the greatest way to spend the holidays in the history of the world.

The Greatest Play in the History of the World Ian Kershaw

A man wakes up in the middle of the night.
His bedroom is still.
His street is still.
In fact, the world is still.

He realises the world has stopped. As he peers out of the crack in his curtains he doesn’t see anything at all. Nothing. Except for a light on in the window of the house across the way and in that window a woman. The woman, in a too-large David Bowie t-shirt, stands in the light of the window in the house across the road staring back at him.

The Greatest Play in the History of the World stars Julie Hesmondhalgh

BAFTA nominee Julie Hesmondhalgh reprises the role that earned her The Stage Edinburgh Award in the limited London transfer. The actress is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Hayley Cropper on famed ITV series Coronation Street. She is also known for television roles on such series as Happy Valley and Broadchurch. The actress is certainly no stranger to the stage, though. Over the years she has lead numerous productions in varied venues. She has worked often with the Royal Exchange Theatre, most recently in the 2018 production of The Almighty Sometimes and the 2019 production of Mother Courage and her Children. The actress is married to Ian Kershaw, who wrote The Greatest Play in the History of the World.
