Following a premiere at London’s Old Vic Theatre Girl from the North Country enjoyed a much-lauded transfer to the West End at the Noel Coward Theatre. It has recently been announced that the show will make the jump across the pond and for a Broadway transfer in 2020 at the Belasco Theatre. Prior to its American debut the electrifying musical featuring the classic songs of Bob Dylan will have a limited engagement in London.

Set in the Great Depression in Dylan’s hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, Conor McPherson’s Bob Dylan musical, Girl from the North Country, follows the Laine family who are in over their heads and struggling to keep a roof over their heads. They open their home to lost people who are down on their luck in an effort to make ends meet. Nick Laine is trying to keep everything and everyone afloat. His wife is struggling with dementia, his adoptive daughter is pregnant, his son has been jilted.

With everyone trying desperately to change their prospects and secure a stable future for themselves, Nick thinks he might have found a way to make it all work out in the end. Come find out just who the girl from the north country is.

Olivier Award-winning Irish playwright Conor McPherson created Girl from the North Country after being approached by Bob Dylan’s office about writing a piece based on Dylan’s songs. The writer is known for his stage works such as The Weir, The Dance of Death, The Night Alive. In addition to his work in theatre, McPherson is also an award-winning screenwriter and director. He has enjoyed great critical acclaim with films like I Went Down, Saltwater and The Eclipse. He has also written the screen adaptations of the Artemis Fowl books for Disney.
