The creatives of Tell Me On A Sunday

Music for the show is composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has written over 21 musicals, as well as a song cycle, a set of variations, two film scores, and a Latin Requiem Mass. Lyrics by Don Black famed for works such as Sunset Boulevard, Aspects of Love and also for co-writing at least three James Bond theme songs.

The pair created the show whilst in rehearsals for Evita in 1979 with the idea to showcase a solo female performer to their very best. The positive reception that the show received when it was first performed at the Sydmonton Festival in 1979 led to the show being recorded as an album. Subsequently the show was filmed at The Royalty Theatre in January 1980 and broadcast on the BBC the following month.
