About Piaf

PIAF by Pam Gems

Reviving Edith Piaf’s Story on the Centenary of her Birth

Following the success at the Brighton Fringe 2015, Pam Gems’ PIAF, directed by Jari Laakso, has its much anticipated return to the London stage to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of France’s most loved cultural icon, Édith Piaf.

On the streets of 1930s Paris, a young woman sings for passers by. Thirty years later, the same woman’s death draws tens of thousands of mourners on to the city’s streets, brings traffic to a halt, and leaves a legacy of music that remains strong to this day.

What lies in the time between, is the incredible true story of Édith Piaf, ‘the little sparrow’. PIAF unveils the spectacular and turbulent world of the legendary singer, incorporating live performance of her timeless music to tell her tale from sensational rise to devastating fall.

Thoroughly enjoyed the show, Charing Cross theatre, is a lovely little theatre, the star of the show was Cameron Leigh for her portrayal of Piaf, was like listening to Piaf herself, this is our second time to the theatre , saw Dusty last year, can't wait to see what they produce next,

Despite all characters having a London accent, which I found some what confusing, considering PAIF was French! To sing in any foreign language, "word perfect" was amazing. Overall, a good show.

Fantastic show worth going to see!

It was excellent. The stand in heroine was a great actress with a wonderful voice. The rest of the cast did a superb job considering they had to keep playing different roles. The second act needed pepping up a bit. A good evening.
