Posted on 6 December 2013

Producers of The Bodyguard have confirmed that Beverley Knight has extended her run in the starring role of Rachel Marron until 31st May 2014. Knight joined the show in September this year and has received high praise from critics and audiences for her performance. Many cannot believe the role marks her acting debut.

The role of Rachel Marron was originally played by Heather Headley when Thea Sharrock’s production of The Bodyguard opened in November 2012. Whitney Houston famously played the part in Lawrence Kasdan’s 1992 Oscar nominated Warner Bros. film which the stage version is based on. The Bodyguard recently announced that it had extended its West End run at the Adelphi Theatre until 30th August 2014, with over 300,000 tickets going on sale.

Knight stars opposite ex-Casualty actor Tristan Gemmill who plays Frank Farmer. They are joined by: Debbie Kurup (Nicki Marron), Richard Lloyd King (Bill Devaney), Stephen Marcus (Tony), Dominic Taylor (Sy Spector), Michael Rouse (Stalker) and Stuart Reid (Ray Court).

Ensemble members include: Gareth Andrews, Kimball Armes, Christopher Birch, Hannah Fairclough, Robert Gill, Nicky Griffiths, Ben Harrold, Jamie Hughes-Ward, Alex Jackson, Genesis Lynea, Fergal McGoff, Sara Morley, Joelle Moses, David O’Mahoney, Stuart Rogers, Kyle Seeley, Danielle Steers, Katy Stredder and Christopher Terry.

Elliot Aubrey, Mark Jones, Anton Joseph and Michael Matias alternate the role of Fletcher, Rachel Marron’s young son.
