Sunny Afternoon - the story of British super group The Kinks hits the West End Stage this Autumn. After transferring from the Hampstead theatre where it enjoyed a sell-out run. Directed by Edward Hall and featuring some of the Kinks' best-loved songs, including "You Really Got Me," "Waterloo Sunset" and "Lola the collaboration between Ray Davies  and award winning playwright Joe Penhall (Blue/Orange) is something not to be missed.

Sunny Afternoon explores both the euphoric highs and the agonising lows of one of the most influential bands of their time. Stepping back into the swinging sixties to witness the group conquer the British scene and go on to take America by storm. Only to then observe  their subsequent fall from favour in the US leading to them being banned from entering the country...

The production being the brainchild of Davies himself means you are instantly transported into this biographical tale of rock and roll excess, feuds and management rip-offs. It is impossible not to get caught up in the excitement and disappointment as you follow the success and failures of the band, peppered with wit and humour this musical is a triumph.

The show premiered in May to rapturous acclaim, with The Telegraph’s Charles Spencer declaring the show “irresistibly enjoyable” in his five star review.

With this in mind, Sunny Afternoon tickets are sure to sell out fast so buy now to avoid missing the hit musical of the autumn!

Sunny Afternoon will arrive at the Harold Pinter Theatre after a summer of comedy, following Lucy Bailey’s production of The Importance Of Being Earnest which begins its run this weekend.
