BLOG : Catch It Before It Goes! West End Shows With Impending Closing Dates

By Shaun Nolan
Miss Saigon Wednesday 25 November 2015

It’s always sad to see when a show posts a closing notice or a show that is only running for a limited run looms nearer its final performances, but it’s even sadder to see this happen to fantastic shows that really seem to shape the West End with their presence.

BLOG : In A Whole New World... Who Would You Cast?

By Harry Tennison
Aladdin Sunday 22 November 2015

Undoubtedly, Disney’s transfer of Aladdin the Musical is the most exciting thing to happen in the West End musicals since Miss Saigon returned – rather ironic since it is now replacing the epic musical at the Prince Edward Theatre. Tickets go on general sale towards the end of November with the first preview on the 27th May, but we so far as to hear very little casting information.

BLOG : The Memory Lives Again! Cats At The London Palladium

By Shaun Nolan
Cats Thursday 12 November 2015

I don’t know if I’m in the minority with my opinion here but I absolutely adore everything about Cats. I first fell in love with the show a lifetime ago when I was captivated by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s fantastic music on the original London cast album and the wonderful performances of the filmed stage performance. So naturally, you can imagine my excitement when Nicole Sherzinger stepped into Grizabella’s boots last Christmas at the Palladium – her performance wowed me so much that I saw her in the role twice and as soon as I found out that Beverley Knight would be taking on the role when the show returned to the Palladium for a limited 11 week run this Christmas, I was equally as excited. But is this show as good this year as it was last? And if you saw last year’s run of Cats at the London Palladium, do you really need to go and see it again?

BLOG : Review: Mr Foote's Other Leg

By Tony Peters
Mr Foote's Other Leg Thursday 12 November 2015

The Hampstead Theatre production of Ian Kelly's play Mr Foote's Other Leg, about one of the 18th century's larger than life theatrical figures, gets a West End transfer and neatly ends up in the actual venue — the Theatre Royal Haymarket — where Foote and his band of actors once plied their trade.

BLOG : Review: Elf The Musical

By Tony Peters
Elf! Thursday 12 November 2015

Elf, the Broadway musical based on the much-loved 2003 film starring Will Ferrell arrives in the West End for Christmas, following a run in Plymouth last year. Any seasonal joy has been somewhat overshadowed by publicity about the high prices being charged for tickets, the most expensive being in excess of £200. And the irony won’t be lost on beleaguered parents, I’m sure, by a show that proffers a message about the true meaning of Christmas while selling expensive programmes and merchandise.
