The stage adaptation of the film Backbeat telling the story of the early days of The Beatles prior to going global will be coming to the Duke of Yorks theatre this autumn after first being shown at the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow in 2010.

Ian Rickson’s critically acclaimed production of Harold Pinter’s Betrayal, starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Douglas Henshall and Ben Miles, will end its scheduled run at the Comedy Theatre on 20 August 2011 having recouped its investment.

In the production’s seventh year in the West End, 13 year old Adam Vesperman from Seattle, USA, will make his West End stage debut as Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre, becoming the twenty-seventh boy to play the title role in the hit west end show Billy Elliot The Musical.

SONIA FRIEDMAN PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS OUT OF JOINT & CHICHESTER FESTIVAL THEATRE PRODUCTION AT THE TRAFALGAR STUDIOS

NICHOLAS HYTNER’S PRODUCTION OF RICHARD BEAN’S NEW ADAPTATION, WITH SONGS BY GRANT OLDING, OPENS AT ADELPHI THEATRE IN NOVEMBER

Making a welcome return to the West End from 8th October for a run until 14th January is the award winning play Jerusalem starring Mark Rylance and Mackenzie Crook.  The production will be staged at the Apollo Theatre with press night on 17th October.

Said to be Joining Ralph Fiennes in the Trevor Nunn directed play The Tempest is Elisabeth Hopper.  The production opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket theatre on 27th August until 29th October.  

Ian Rickson’s Royal Court Theatre production of Jez Butterworth’s Jerusalem will return to London’s West End for a strictly limited 14 week engagement hot on the heels of a triumphant Broadway run. Mark Rylance will reprise his Olivier and Tony award-wining performance as Johnny “Rooster” Byron, directed by Ian Rickson.  Previewing at the Apollo Theatre from 8 October 2011, with press night on 17 October, Jerusalem is booking until 14 January 2012. 

Broken Glass transfers to the Vaudeville Theatre for a limited run in the West End from 14 September until 10 December, with press night on 16 September.  The production stars Antony Sher and Tara Fitzgerald with further cast announcements made today.  

Respect La Diva, conceived and directed by Adrian Grant, the creator of hit international show Thriller Live, will arrive at the Garrick Theatre for a strictly limited run from 7 September until 24 September, with press night on 8 September.

Musical Dreamboats and Petticoats welcomes new cast member Sam Attwater to the stage at the Playhouse Theatre.

Alex Gaumond is to join the West End cast of We Will Rock You at London's Dominion Theatre

Further to recent reports that JOANNA LUMLEY is to appear as Eleanor of Aquitaine in Trevor Nunn's THE LION IN WINTER at Theatre Royal Haymarket, the Daily Mail has reported that ROBERT LINDSAY is in talks to play Henry II.
