The “jukebox” musical has become a contentious issue in theatre.  For some, they represent a dumbing down, where creativity has been stifled for shallow money-making machinations.  For others, they offer the simple pleasures of a fun night out.  As one of the first “jukebox” musicals, recently celebrating its tenth anniversary, We Will Rock You is at the centre of this dichotomy.

 The weather is finally heating up and so are the shows at Sadler's Wells and the Peacock Theatre.

Following its sell-out run at Hampstead Theatre, Edward Hall's five star production of Chariots Of Fire will open at the Gielgud Theatre on 23 June 2012 where it is currently booking to 10 November 2012.

Gene David Kirk for Jermyn Street Theatre Presents Eileen Atkins & Michael Gambon All That Fall by Samuel Beckett directed by Trevor Nunn from 9th October to 3rd November.

Bill Kenwright presents Rufus Norris' acclaimed production of Kander and Ebb's musical masterpiece Cabaret.  Rufus Norris’ much anticipated re-imagining of his double Olivier-award winning production of Cabaret is to star internationally renowned singer/songwriter Will Young in his musical theatre debut as the enigmatic Emcee. The production will play The Savoy Theatre in London’s West End from 3 October until 19th January, following an exclusive four week tour.

British beauty Michelle Ryan will join Will Young in the latest Cabaret revival this coming winter at the Savoy Theatre.   She will play the lead role of Sally Bowles alongside Young who has already been confirmed as the Emcee.

The award winning Jermyn Street Theatre’s growing reputation for rediscovering and producing lost works by the world’s greatest playwrights steps up a level this Summer with the UK premiere of Henrik Ibsen’s third play from 10th July to 4th August, the magical and dreamlike St John’s Night directed by Anthony Biggs.  The cast includes Sara Crowe, Louise Calf and Isla Carter.

Written and directed by Donald Macdonald, Letter to Larry previews at the Jermyn Street Theatre from 5th June to 16th June.

Thriller Live is the spectacular musical sensation currently playing at the Lyric Theatre in London which celebrates the hit songs of Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5.

Life is imitating art for leading man Raza Jaffrey, as Chicago producer, Barry Weissler spotted him in the new Steven Spielberg TV series Smash, and immediately offered him the role of Billy Flynn in the West End production of the musical.  He will star in Chicago at the Garrick Theatre from 16 May to 14 July, playing the role between present Billy, David Bedella, who leaves the cast on 12 May, and Olympian Robin Cousins, who joins on 17 July.

Composer Andrew Llloyd Webber is feeling inspired again to write a new original West End musical on the subject of the 1960's Profumo Scandal.  He will start work on the new project after the filming of the SuperStar tv show finishes, which is the search for the role of Jesus for his revival of his musical Jesus Christ Superstar.

Following the West End season of Posh and Jumpy at the Duke of Yorks Theatre, the next production in the season will be Constellations by Nick Payne previewing from 9th November with offical opening on 16th November to 5th January 2013.

Celebrate the remarkable career of the legendary Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5.

 Following the international smash-hit production of Peter Pan, threesixty returns to London’s historic Kensington Gardens to create another enchanting theatrical experience.

It can be exhausting trying to book tickets for West End shows without some kind of London theatre guide.   Unless you have been heartily recommended to go by a friend whose taste levels you trust implicitly or you simply have to see the star no matter what, we always like a little reassurance when making our theatre purchase.
