BLOG : What To Look For In London Theatre

By Steve Rich
The Lion King Friday 27 May 2016

The carved phoenixes that adorn the edges of the Apollo, Shaftesbury Avenue dress circle. The seashell lighting that gives an undersea feel to its namesake the Apollo Victoria. The silver mousetrap and Meg’s plaque in the St Martin’s foyer, the actual well under a cover at the back of the Sadler’s Well’s Theatre.   All are reminders of the amazing wealth of history to be found in the West End’s grandest old ladies. But this blog isn’t about that.

BLOG : Matinee Idle: A Lazy Afternoon At The Theatre

By Shanine Salmon
The Bodyguard Tuesday 24 May 2016

I recently went to see King Lear at Theatre Royal Brighton. I live in South London and couldn’t resist a sunny afternoon trip to the south coast. I’d forgotten how much I love a Saturday matinee and if you thought they were just for the elderly then you are very much mistaken. They are the most welcoming option, if you think theatre is cold and inaccessible you have not gone to a Saturday matinee.

Cinderella, a traditional favourite is selling well despite no cast having been announced and rumours flying here, there and everywhere about who might be appearing. BLOG : Phantom Of The Opera: Forever One Of The Greatest ★★★★★

By Shaun Nolan
Phantom of The Opera Monday 23 May 2016

I saw The Phantom of the Opera for the first time many years back with my best friend Abbie and immediately, both of us fell in love. There is something about hearing that iconic score that you know so well – from before you’ve even seen the show - being played right in front of you by a full orchestra that is truly mesmerising, never mind the stunning visuals and the fact that you are sat in a seat that someone sat it on the opening night of this show some 30 years beforehand.

BLOG : Review: ★★★★★ SHOW BOAT Is A Glorious And Enchanting Revival

By Shaun Nolan
Show Boat Monday 23 May 2016

The West End seems to be having a massive influx of incredible revivals at the moment – be it Gypsy last year, Funny Girl this year or Sunset Boulevard over at the ENO – but no one expected a revival of a show to be quite as stellar as this one of Show Boat at the New London Theatre. The show itself (which was first performed over 90 years ago) is finally back in London in this glorious and enchanting production which makes a show that could feel old a dreary feel as grand as any other.
