This week, Disney’s award-winning musical The Lion King welcomed its 12 millionth visitor at London’s Lyceum Theatre. The show will celebrate its 15th anniversary in October in London, where the show remains the West End’s best-selling stage production. Tickets are currently on sale until 29 March 2015.

Adapted from Jacqueline Wilson's popular novel, Hetty Feather transfers to the West End for 40 performances only from Tuesday 5th August until Saturday 6th September at the Vaudeville Theatre. The West End transfer follows the production's critically acclaimed and hugely popular run at the Rose Theatre, Kingston and a smash-hit international tour.

Ticket Tuesday winner Jessica Scott won tickets to see spooky West End juggernaut War Horse through our weekly Twitter competition.   Here is her review of the show that she saw on Tuesday 22nd July. 

It has been announced that Forbidden Broadway will transfer to the West End following its successful run at the Menier Chocolate Factory. The production will open at the Vaudeville Theatre on Tuesday 9th September for a limited eleven week run ending on Saturday 22nd November 2014.

Following several weeks of previews, Shakespeare in Love officially opened at the Noel Coward Theatre on Wednesday (23rd July 2014). The majority of critics have fallen in love with the show, the Daily Telegraph and Independent both awarded the production five stars.

On Monday theatreland exploded with several extremely exciting casting announcements. It was revealed that Kerry Ellis, the original British Elphaba, will return to Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from Monday 4th August for a limited run until Saturday 25th October 2014.

Gwynfor Jones is currently starring as ‘The Actor’ in the West End production of The Woman in Black at the Fortune Theatre. Following the West End premiere of Stephen Mallatratt’s play in 1989, The Woman in Black has celebrated a twenty-five year West End run and has been seen by over 7 million people.  The show is described as “one of the most exciting, gripping and successful theatre events ever staged”.

Nicholas Hytner's production of Richard Bean's Great Britain is set to transfer to the Theatre Royal Haymarket following a successful National Theatre run from 10 September, 2014 to 10 January, 2015. Booking for the show opened on the 4th of July.

The show everybody is talking about this week is Cats. Tickets for the production, which returns to the West End in December for a limited run at the London Palladium, are now on sale. Cats opens on Thursday 11th December 2014 (previews from 6th December) and runs until Saturday 28th February 2015.

Over 375,000 new tickets released for sale for Billy Elliot at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Following a rapturous reception at its National Theatre press night, new play Great Britain, penned by Richard Bean, has already been confirmed for a Theatre Royal Haymarket transfer after just one official performance.  The satirical show currently stars Billie Piper in the lead role, who will possibly join the new production.

The ripples of revolution are now reaching the shores of the West End! URINETOWN transfers to the Apollo Theatre!
