Chicago the musical ends it's 15 year run in London

Posted on 13 July 2012

Chicago’s historic record-breaking 15 year run in London's West End will come to an end on Saturday 1 September 2012.

The producers of Chicago the Musical commented "Whilst it is bittersweet to be ending our run in the West End, we do so with a sense of pride in having set the record of the longest running revival ever. It is in no short measure that the success has been achieved with the belief and support from all London’s ticket agents and groups bookers. Over the years your dedication has been an integral part of our success and for this we offer you our humble Thanks."

They continued: "Who would have believed on that July day in 1997 when Chicago made headlines for the very first time by bringing over the Broadway cast to perform at the Prince of Wales Theatre to launch the show, that three theatres, 6016 performances, 559 cast members, 5.6 million customers later London would still boast a ‘noisy hall, where the gin is cold, the piano is hot and all that jazz’."

"As we look forward to the final weeks CHICAGO is thrilled to welcome London's very own Olympic Gold Medalist Robin Cousins as Billy Flynn from 17 July.   Along with Robin, the cast will continue to be led by Sarah Soetaert as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowall as Velma Kelly, Tony Timberlake as Amos Hart, Jasna Ivir as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Whitehead as Mary Sunshine.

Once again thank you for all your support and we hope you will help us ensure Chicago goes out in the style it richly deserves."

Chicago was a firm favourite with LondonTheatreDirect.com customers and we will be sad to see it go. We wish everyone involved in the show the very best of luck.
