Lindsay Posner directs Terence Rattigan’s compelling play, THE WINSLOW BOY at the Old Vic starring Henry Goodman

THE WINSLOW BOY is based on a true story of a father’s fight to clear his son’s name when he is expelled after being convicted of theft. First staged in 1946, the battle between personal principles and conscience plus an impenetrable establishment under the media spotlight makes the play as relevant today as it was then.

Award-winning actor Henry Goodman stars as Arthur Winslow. He most recently played the role of Arturo Ui in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Chichester Festival Theatre). He won the Olivier award for Best Actor in 1993 for his role in Stephen Sondheim's musical Assassins and in 2000 for his role as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice directed by Trevor Nunn. His other theatre credits include Fiddler on the Roof (Savoy Theatre) Yes, Prime Minister (Gielgud Theatre) Copenhagen (Lyceum Theatre, Sheffield) and Duet for One (Almeida and Vaudeville).

"Beautifully judged, elegantly designed and splendidly acted" The Daily Telegraph

"Cry for liberty is bang up to date when press freedom is in doubt"The Times

"The play feels as fresh as today’s newspaper" The Wall Street Journal

"Henry Goodman is tremendous" The Guardian

The cast of The Winslow Boy also includes Sia Berkeley, Deborah Findlay, Naomi Frederick, Nick Hendrix, Stephen Joesph, Wendy Nottingham, Charlie Rowe, Peter Sullivan, Richard Teverson and Jay Villiers.

The Winslow Boy is directed by Lindsay Posner, returning Old Vic following his acclaimed revival of Noises Off  which transferred to the West End.
