About Taming of the Shrew
THE TAMING OF THE SHREW has divided critical and audience response for centuries - feisty girl brought down by chauvinist bigot, or the love story of two people outside society? At Wilton''s, that surviving testament to our music hall past, we aim to put this most theatrical of Shakespeare''s comedies to the test; to explore the role-playing, the games and the deceptions of this riotous comedy; and to discover what passions lie beneath the facades its diverse group of characters present to the world.
RACHAEL STIRLING will play the part of Katherine. Her film and TV credits include MAYBE BABY, TIPPING THE VELVET, POIROT, MISS MARPLE. Theatre credits include UNCLE VANYA at Wilton''s, THEATRE OF BLOOD for the National Theatre, HELPLESS at the Donmar Warehouse and A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
OLIVER CHRIS will play Petruccio. His film and TV credits include THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL, BRIDGET JONES: THE EDGE OF REASON, GREEN WING, THE OFFICE, BONKERS, I.T CROWD and RESCUE ME. Theatre credits include; CYRANO directed by Greg Hersov and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ERNEST directed by Bill Alexander.
