James McAvoy to reprise role in Cyrano de Bergerac

Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac is being reimagined and freely adapted by Martin Crimp. Cyrano is a strong-willed man of many talents, a soldier, a duelist, a poet and a musician. However, his abnormally large nose makes him unsure of himself. He is, however,  sure that no one would ever be able to love him as he is. Roxane is the object of his affection, but he knows that nothing can come of his feelings for her. He is dejected when she shares with him her love for the handsome young Christian and extracts from him a promise to keep her beloved safe. What lengths will Cyrano go to in order to keep his promise? Will his words ever be able to overcome his physical appearance? What will become of his unrequited love?

DH23rd February

The seats we booked were the most uncomfortable that I have ever sat in at the theatre. We only had sight of a third of the stage. There was no warning of this when booked. Absolutely disgraceful. Superb play though

Michael Murphy23rd February

Simply one of the best plays I have seen.

KAITLYN22nd February

The play was fantastic- I was constantly moved through this story. The seats are not good. They were advertised as limited leg room, but really were obstructed view. Had I known that, we probably would not have gone.

Terrific production. All the actors absolutely engaged, whether as a ‘moving part’ or still. Amazing energy and pace. Humour as well as drama and strong emotion. Palpable physicality under restraint or in full flow. A great piece of theatre.
