Ben Platt to star in UK premiere of Midnight at the Never Get

**Ben Platt** (*Pitch Perfect*, *The Politician*) will star in the UK premiere of *Midnight at the Never Get*, opening at the [Menier Chocolate Factory](https://www.londontheatredirect.com/venue/menier-chocolate-factory-london) this summer. The musical, written by *KPop Demon Hunters*’ **Mark Sonnenblick**, marks the first time the Tony Award-winning actor will headline a full season in the capital.  Platt originated the titular role in *Dear Evan Hansen* on Broadway, and reprised the character in the 2021 film adaptation. A regular stateside, Platt has previously only crossed the pond for one-off performances, like the upcoming, sold-out, concert staging of *The Last Five Years* opposite *Evita* star, **Rachel Zegler**.  Speaking on today's announcement Platt said “I’m thrilled to be undertaking my first full run on the London stage at the Menier as it transforms into the nightclub setting of The Never Get. It’s truly wonderful to work with Mark, who is not only a genius songwriter, but who has also become a true friend. It’s a very special piece, my first wholly original musical since **Dear Evan Hansen, and we look forward to working with the generationally talented David Cromer to create this singular experience.”

Sonnenblick added, “This show means a tremendous amount to me and it’s a gift to collaborate with Ben again – he’s a once-in-a-generation performer. I can’t wait for audiences to experience his performance in the beautifully intimate theatre at the Menier. It’s also a huge privilege to work with the brilliant David Cromer as we realize the piece afresh for its U.K. premiere.” Set in 1960s New York, Midnight at the Never Get follows Trevor Copeland and Arthur Brightman whose onstage partnership at a nightclub evolves into a private romantic relationship.  The story will unfold at the intimate Menier Chocolate Factory, whose seating capacity is less than 10% of the [London Palladium](https://www.londontheatredirect.com/venue/london-palladium-london)’s (where Platt will be performing in The Last Five Years). It’s an unusually intimate setting for an actor of Platt’s profile, and will be a rare treat for anyone lucky enough to get tickets. Midnight at the Never Get plays at the [Menier Chocolate Factory](https://www.londontheatredirect.com/venue/menier-chocolate-factory-london) from 20 July until 12 September 2026.
