JERSEY BOYS CELEBRATES ITS SECOND TRIUMPHANT LONDON BIRTHDAY

JERSEY BOYS CONTINUES TO DAZZLE THE WEST END HAVING WON TWENTY-ONE AWARDS NAMING IT THE WEST END’S BEST SHOW AND BEST MUSICAL

Jersey Boys, the award-winning musical which opened in London’s West End at the Prince Edward Theatre two years ago, will celebrate its second London birthday on 18 March.  Joining the cast for the third year of its run will be Jon Boydon playing Tommy DeVito and Eugene McCoy playing Nick Massi.  Jersey Boys has won twenty-one major international awards since first opening on Broadway in 2006.  This rich haul includes ‘Best Musical Award’ at the Laurence Olivier Awards, the Whatonstage.com Awards, the Visit London People’s Choice Awards and the highly sought-after Tony Award.

Jon Boydon has just completed two years in the West End show “We Will Rock You” playing the alternate ‘Galileo / Figaro’, having previously starred in touring productions of “Grease”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “The Rocky Horror Show” and “What A Feeling”.  Eugene McCoy has recently played featured roles in “Mamma Mia!” at the Prince of Wales Theatre and “Guys and Dolls” at the Piccadilly Theatre in London, following diverse acting parts in stage shows throughout Europe.  The London cast continues to be headed by Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli and Stephen Ashfield as Bob Gaudio, with Scott Monello as the alternate Frankie Valli.  They are joined by Simon Adkins as Bob Crewe, Jade Westaby as Mary Delgado, Mark Carroll as Donnie/Knuckles, Jye Frasca as Joe Pesci, Charlie Bull as Lorraine, Michelle Francis as Francine, Tee Jaye as Barry, Stuart Milligan as Gyp Decarlo, Joseph Prouse as Norm Waxman and James Winter as Hank.  Also in the cast are Michael Conway, Ben Evans, Lucinda Gill, Mark Isherwood, Paul Iveson, Zara Warren and Ben Wheeler.  

Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons – Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi and Tommy DeVito.  The internationally acclaimed hit musical tells the remarkable rise to stardom of one of the most successful bands in pop history and how four New Jersey boys from the wrong side of the tracks invented their own unique sound, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and sold 100 million records worldwide all before they were thirty. Jersey Boys is the electrifying true-life story which includes the hits ‘Beggin’ ‘Sherry’, ‘Walk Like A Man’, ‘December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)’, ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, ‘My Eyes Adored You’, ‘Let’s Hang On (To What We’ve Got)’, ‘Bye Bye Baby’, ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’, ‘Working My Way Back to You’, ‘Fallen Angel’, ‘Rag Doll’ and ‘Who Loves You’.

 Jersey Boys is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe.  The London production is staged by the entire original Broadway creative team, led by director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo.  Jersey Boys has scenic design by Klara Zieglerova, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound by Steve Canyon Kennedy and projections design by Michael Clark.  The orchestrations are by Steve Orich and the music supervision and vocal arrangements by Ron Melrose. 

Jersey Boys is produced by Dodger Theatricals, Joseph J. Grano, Tamara and Kevin Kinsella, Pelican Group, in association with Latitude Link and Rick Steiner, and a small group of UK colleagues.
