The hit Broadway musical *The Outsiders* will make its way to the West End, producers have confirmed.
Based on **S. E. Hinton**’s seminal 1967 novel and **Francis Ford Coppola**’s iconic 1983 film, the production tells the story of teenage outsiders navigating loyalty, rivalry and survival in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Broadway production picked up four Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Musical, and continues to play to audiences in New York, alongside a North American tour that is currently underway.
The story was famously brought to the screen in **Coppola**’s 1983 adaptation, which starred a then-emerging cast including **C. Thomas Howell** as Ponyboy Curtis, alongside **Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise** and **Diane Lane**.
The musical features a book by **Adam Rapp** and **Justin Levine**, with music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival (**Jonathan Clay** and **Zach Chance**) and **Levine**. Direction is by Tony Award winner **Danya Taymor**, with choreography by **Rick** and **Jeff Kuperman**.
Producers **Matthew Rego, Michael Rego** and **Hank Unger** confirmed that plans for a London production are now in development, marking the next international chapter for the show.
Details of the West End venue, performance dates and casting will be announced at a later stage.
