Following sold out runs at Royal Albert Hall, Hampton Court Palace, Sadler's Wells, the Edinburgh Playhouse, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, and the Mandela Auditorium at Joburg Theatre, the Grammy Award-nominated production, INALA, plays at House of Sisters Grimm for a strictly limited run. Don’t miss your chance to see INALA whilst it’s in London.
INALA was conceived and created as a way to mark 20 years of democracy in South Africa. A Zulu word meaning 'abundance of goodwill', INALA is a powerful and thrilling mixture of South African and Western cultures that celebrates diversity. This Zulu ballet was created by Sisters Grimm, and the award-winning choreographer and artistic director of Rambert Mark Baldwin. The show featured Ladysmith Black Mambazo and current and former dancers from the Royal Ballet and Rambert. The score of INALA was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016.
INALA has relaunched with a new cast of South African singer-dancers, including narration by Ndaba Mandela, grandson of Nelson Mandela.
It stands as a tribute to Joseph Shabalala, whose work with Paul Simon on Graceland helped bring South African music to the world and contributed to cultural shifts during apartheid. INALA was his final international stage work — a lasting legacy of unity through music.
