Michelle Ryan and Will Young star in the multi award winning production of Cabaret at the Savoy Theatre, with choreography by Javier De Frutos and direction by Rufus Norris.
The show is based on John Van Druten's 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from the 1939 short novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood. Cabaret the musical is set in 1931 Berlin as the Nazis are rising to power; it focuses on nightlife at the seedy Kit Kat Klub and revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer Sally Bowles (Michelle Ryan) and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. Overseeing the action is the Master of Ceremonies (Will Young) at the Kit Kat Klub.
This production of Cabaret originally opened in September 2006, at the Lyric Theatre, starring Anna Maxwell Martin, James Dreyfus and Sheila Hancock. Hancock won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Performance and Javier De Frutos for Best Choreographer.

Since its Broadway premiere in 1966 and the famous movie version with Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey, Cabaret has won a staggering number of stage and screen awards including 8 Oscar’s, 7 BAFTA’s and 13 Tony’s.
Ever since winning the inaugural series of Pop Idol in 2002, Will Young has been one of the UK’s most popular and successful music artists. He holds the record for the fastest selling debut single in British chart history and his current Platinum selling album, Echoes, went straight to number one in the charts. Will has also enjoyed a successful acting career, which saw him appear alongside Dame Judi Dench in the film Mrs Henderson Presents, and it is the combination of these talents which has led him to star in Cabaret.
Michelle Ryan is best known as Zoe Slater in EastEnders. She famously beat a host of Hollywood names to play the title role in the cult US NBC TV show The Bionic Woman. Since then Michelle has appeared in some of Britain’s most popular television dramas including Doctor Who, Merlin, Mansfield Park and Jekyll.
The cast also includes Bafta award winner Sian Phillips as Fraulein Schneider, Harriet Thorpe (Crazy for You, Wicked and Mamma Mia!) as Fraulein Kost and Matt Rawle (Martin Guerre, Evita, Zorro and Pippin) as Clif.
Director Rufus Norris is a multi-award winning theatre, opera and film director who’s most recent production at the National Theatre, where he is associate director, was the acclaimed Critic’s Circle Award Winning Musical London Road. Other theatre includes Vernon God Little (Young Vic), Les Liasons Dangerouses (Broadway), Festen (West End and Broadway) The Country Girl (Apollo) and Afore Night Came (Young Vic, Evening Standard Award).
This production of Cabaret is choreographed is by the Olivier award winning Javier De Frutos. In 1990, he formed The Javier De Frutos Dance Company. His work includes The Hypochondriac Bird and Affliction of Loneliness. Recently he joined forces with Sadler’s Wells and The Pet Shop Boys to create a brand new dance work based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story, The Most Incredible Thing.
