Rebecca McKinnis

Rebecca McKinnis is a professional English actress and singer who has worked on television, film and stage. She is playing Heidi Hansen in the 2019 production of Dear Evan Hansen.

 

Training:

She trained at the Mountview Academy and graduated with a BA Honours degree in Performance (1999 – 2001).

Theatre:

Some of Rebecca’s stage credits are Kitty in Simon Williams’ Charley’s Aunt (CMC); Lucy Lockitt in Rob Forknall’s Beggar’s Opera (Changeling Theatre Company); Grumio in Blanche McIntyre/Rob Forknall’s Taming Of The Shrew (Changeling Theatre Company); Suzanna Townley in Blanche McIntyre’s 3 Hours After Marriage at the Union Theatre; understudy Jeanie in Neil Labute’s Fat Pig at Trafalgar Studios and Tina Ruston in Adam Penford’s A Small Family Business at the National Theatre.

Her extensive work in musicals include playing a woman in Racky Plews’ Starting Here Starting Now at Upstairs At The Gatehouse; Virus, cover Kim and Big Sue in Christian Durham’s Taboo at the Fiery Angel; swing, cover Donna and Tanya in Phyllida Lloyd/Peter Addis’ Mamma Mia! at POW Littlestar; first cover Killer Queen/teacher in Ben Elton’s We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre; Christina in Bartlett Sher’s Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown at the Playhouse Theatre; Margaret New in Jonathan Butterell’s Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre; Heidi Hansen in Michael Greif’s Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre; the 25th Anniversary Tour of Les Miserables at the Cameron Mackintosh and Viva Forever! at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Film:

She was a villager in Disney’s 2015 feature film Beauty And The Beast Rebecca also played Clarrissa in Fergus March’s short film Shelf Life (2006).

TV:

On television, she appeared as Speed Dater in ITV2’s Comedy Cuts and an ensemble nun in ITV’s The Sound Of Music Live (2015).
