Josefina Gabrielle

Born in October 1963, Josefina Gabrielle is a renowned British TV and stage actress. She is also a former ballet dancer who is famous for her appearances in plays and musicals in the West End. After her training, she began her professional career with the National Ballet of Portugal – CNB.

 

Training:

Born in London, she trained at the Arts Educational Schools.

Theatre:

Her theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Caannizaro Park); Chicago (Garrick, Cambridge and Adelphi); The Witches of Eastwick (Prince of Wales); Tonight at 8:30 (Chichester); The 39 Steps (Criterion); Hello, Dolly! (Regent’s Park Open Air); The King and I (UK Tour); Puss in Boots (Hackney Empire); Les Miserables (Sondheim Theatre); Merrily We Roll Along (Menier Chocolate Factory); Two Into One (Menier Chocolate Factory, Harold Pinter and Digital Theatre).

Gabrielle also appeared in Oklahoma! at the National Theatre, Lyceum and Gershwin, receiving an Astaire, Olivier and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations; Me and My Girl, A Chorus Line (Sheffield Crucible); Singin’ in the Rain and Sunday in the Park with George (Sadler’s Wells and Leicester Haymarket) among others.

TV:

As a professional actress, she has also appeared in several television shows including Doctors; Miranda Hart; The Rosie O’Donnell Show; Auf Wiedersehen, Pet; Sunburn; Born and Bred and Heartbeat.

Music:

Her voice is featured in the London cast recordings of Carousel, Fame, The Goodbye Girl and Oklahoma!

Awards:

She won the Best Female in a Supporting Role at the 2011 Clarence Derwent Awards for her role in Sweet Charity. Although Gabrielle didn’t win, she received the Best Actress in a Musical award for Oklahoma in 1999. She was also awarded Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Sweet Charity in 2011, and Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Merrily We Roll Along in 2014 among others.
