Are Billy Elliot tickets coming to London soon?!
A new UK production of iconic musical Billy Elliot is opening at Leicester’s Curve this Summer for a limited season with a high likelihood of it transferring to the West End. The Made at Curve production will be directed by Nikolai Foster and will be choreographed by Lucy Hind.
Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the musical premiered at London’s Victoria Palace Theatre in 2005 and went on to win numerous international awards including four Olivier Awards and ten Tony Awards.
Billy Elliot 2022 London production
While there is official confirmation on whether or not Billy Elliot will head to the West End following its opening run this summer, fans are tapping their toes in anticipation. The new production of Billy Elliot musical comes to the UK’s Curve, Leicester for six weeks only, from 7 July to 14 August 2022, which has London audiences hoping a West End transfer of Billy Elliot is in the works. What do we know about the new Billy Elliot production?
The 2022 production of the beloved musical Billy Elliot will be directed by Leicester’s Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster. Foster’s previous works include a major revival of West Side Story, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard and much more. The musical will have choreography by Lucy Hind; whose credits include Girl From The North Country and The Last Ship. The production will have lighting designed by Curve Associate Ben Cracknell.
For the new production at the Curve, there will be adult casting by Kay Magson CDG and children’s casting Jo Hawes CDG. Casting for the production has not yet been announced.
About Billy Elliot the musical
The award-winning show is based on Stephen Daldry’s 2000 film Billy Elliot, with music by Elton John and book and lyrics by Lee Hall. The iconic show features incredible songs such as ‘Solidarity’, ‘The Letter’, ‘He Could Be a Star’ and ‘Electricity’.
Billy Elliot the Musical is set during 1984/85 amidst the miners’ strike, and tells an electrifying tale of determination, acceptance and daring to be different. Billy faces the daunting path of forging out a new destiny and following his passion, but can he leave behind his close-knit community upbringing where family and tradition means everything.

Thomas Hazelby, 10 years old from Doncaster, today (11 March 2015) joins the cast of Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre to play the title role.
