The original Billy Elliot film was nominated for three Oscars and 13 Bafta awards. The show of Billy Elliot reunited the original creative team behind the film, with direction by Stephen Daldry and lyrics by Lee Hall. The music was composed by legendary British singer-songwriter, Elton John. Opening at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in 2005 and was nominated for nine Olivier Awards and won four, including Best New Musical.
