Marianne Benedict

Marianne Benedict is a UK-born professional theatre actress, singer and dancer. She is probably best known for her television work in Eastenders. She has years of acting and singing experience across famous venues across the UK. Marianne is currently appearing in Matilda as Mrs Wormwood.

 

Training:

She studied acting, singing and dancing as a child in Oxfordshire, moving on to pursue her 3-year Musical Theatre degree at the Arts Educational Schools, London. Marianne graduated with the Most Outstanding Student of the Year award.

Her theatre credits include Singer in West End Musical Theatre Celebration at the Palace Theatre; Diana in Dragula (Fringe); Understudy Polly Baker/Stella in Crazy For You at the Lincoln Theatre Royal and UK Tour; Assistant MD and Dolly in The Country Wife at the Watford Palace Theatre; Wealdstone in Mother Goose at the Watford Palace Theatre; title role of Debbie in Debbie Does Dallas at the Old Fire Station Theatre, Oxford; Alice in Loveshack in the UK Tour; Resident MD and Gloria in Return to the Forbidden Planet at the Basingstoke Haymarket and UK Tour; Understudy Killer Queen and Teacher in We Will Rock You at the Dominion Theatre; Vivian in Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre; Miss Mackintosh in The Sunshine Boys at Oldham Coliseum; Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium; Ezmeralda/Fairy Bubbles in Jack and the Beanstalk at the Liverpool Everyman Playhouse; May in The Blonde Bombshells of 1943 at the Stoke New Vic and Oldham Coliseum; Velma in Chicago at Oldham Coliseum; morgana Beezlebub in Aladdin at the Liverpool Everyman Playhouse; Rosalia in Woman on a Verge of a Nervous Breakdwown at the Playhouse Theatre. Marianne was also in the workshop of The Girl Dusty at the Duchess Theatre as Catherine.
