Tim Maguire is a multi-award winning, internationally renowned visual artist, regularly showing in Melbourne, Sydney, Paris, London and New York.
An impressive range of musical influences including jazz, new wave, rock, alt. country, and classical music is strikingly evident in Dorian Ford’s playing. An award winning player, he has made a significant contribution to the London jazz scene, regularly playing at Ronnie Scott’s, St James Theatre, the Vortex, and for Jazz FM.
In this unique show, the two launch their DVD: To The Surface. This collaborative piece draws on a mutual appreciation of each other’s work. A world premiere, and a live presentation of Dorian’s response to Tim’s moving video images.
‘The saturated, iridescent hues and subverted colouration that form Tim Maguire’s latest body of video works and photographic light-boxes draws our attention not only to the complexities and subtleties of refraction but the process by which colours are derived in art. Capturing the play of water and light, Maguire’s striking works consist of film takes of water, which twist and merge to form striking, alien nests of colour.’ The Age, Melbourne.
‘The wide ranging, imaginative and melodic playing of Dorian Ford.’ Ollie Weindling, The Vortex
