About Blood Brothers

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers musical at the Phoenix Theatre has become one of the longest standing musicals on the West End.

Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins  separated at birth who  grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.

‘It’s a must. Gripping, gritty and superbly hummable’ - Mail on Sunday

‘Brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval’ - Daily Mail

‘Exhilarating. One of the best musicals ever written’ - The Sunday Times

‘Devastating. A masterpiece. If you haven’t seen it, go. If you have, go again’ - News of the World

Originally opening at the Lyric Theatre in 1983, the Blood Brothers show won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. It was revived at the Albery Theatre in 1988 and then transferred to the Phoenix Theatre in 1991 where it still plays today.

The Blood Brothers songs include Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True

Since Blood Brothers opened in the West End the central role of Mrs. Johnstone has been played by, among others Barbara Dickson, Stephanie Lawrence, Clodagh Rodgers, Kiki Dee, Lyn Paul, Siobhan McCarthy, Melanie Chisholm, Niki Evans and Amy Robbins.
