MGC Artistic Director Michael Grandage directs this first ever UK revival since directing the world premiere at the Donmar Warehouse in 2009 and on Broadway in 2010 where the production went on to win six Tony Awards, including Best Play and Best Direction.
Award-winning stage and screen actor Alfred Molina, who has most recently been seen in BBC’s acclaimed series, Feud, reprises his role as master American expressionist Mark Rothko who, having just received the largest commission in the history of modern art, finds himself consumed by warring desires for integrity and success.
Molina is joined by breakthrough British actor Alfred Enoch (US television drama series How to Get Away with Murder) as Rothko's young assistant, Ken, who provokes him to make an agonising discovery about the price of fame.
