A History of Water in the Middle East tickets
When Sabrina Mahfouz was growing up she wanted to be a spy. As a British Egyptian with two passports who speaks two languages and has a deep cultural understand of two countries that are very different she seemed like a perfect candidate. However, when it came time to apply for MI6, it turned out she wasn’t British enough.
Now she’s taken on a mission of her own. Using theatre, poetry and music she shares stories of women from across the continent to explore who really has the power in and over the Middle East. We’ve long known the world is obsessed by access to oil, but is water going to become the natural resource that dictates control, or has it always been?
A History of Water in the Middle East explores ideas of British Imperial ownership of natural resources, the environmental urgency of our current times, the way that water has moulded lives, politics and fortunes and the way it will continue to shape our future.
