A storm at sea – a ship is broken by the waves, and a king and his court are washed up on the shore of a mysterious island. The desolate isle appears uninhabited but, unseen in the shadows, a powerful magician plots his revenge. The fate of all the shipwrecked souls now rests in his hands. Will he give in to his anger, or will his love for his daughter redeem them all?

Inspired by the courtly royal masques of the 17th century, and the designs of Inigo Jones, The Tempest is an evening of pomp and promenade, of magic and illusion.

Witness the magic of Shakespeare's The Tempest in the gardens of Saint Paul's Cathedral. Book your Tempest tickets now to avoid disappointment.

Most of the acting was superb, particularly Prospero, Ariel and Caliban. Some voices were drowned out - it was a noisy Sat night in Covent Garden so I suppose this was to be expected. The sets and setting were remarkable and really conjured the magic of Setebos. Really lovely event and I'd certainly come again.

Even though The Tempest is surrounded by the noises of Central London, I was so impressed by the focus of the actors and by how much the promenade heightened my experience. Gorgeous sets, brilliant actors (specifically Stephano and Trinculo), and incredibly reasonable price. This is a great option for people wanting to see good Shakespeare in London without breaking the bank. I loved it!
