Philip Griffiths

Philip Griffiths is a professional Welsh stage performer. He is currently playing Monsieur Reyer/Auctioneer in the long-running production of The Phantom Of The Opera. He celebrated 30 years of consecutive performances across West End stages.

 

Training:

Philip trained at the Royal Manchester College of Music.

Theatre:

Performing at the Prince Edward Theatre for ten years, he appeared in Anything Goes directed by Jerry Zaks, Chess by Trevor Nunn and Evita by Hal Prince. In 2019, he completed 20 years being a valuable part of The Phantom Of The Opera, playing at Her Majesty’s Theatre. He was resident director from 1998 to 2000. Philip’s West End credits also include The Biograph Girl and Kings And Clowns at the Phoenix Theatre. His UK tours include playing Narrator in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Paul Fontaine in Desert Song. At the Salisbury Playhouse, he appeared in repertory in Othello and Faces Of Eve.

Opera:

Philip has taken the stage with various renowned opera companies such as Dublin Grand Opera, the New Opera Company, Kent Opera and the English Music Theatre, and concerts and productions in Belgium, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, France, Italy and Germany.

Pantomime:

His credits in pantomime include playing Robinson in Robinson Crusoe and Prince Charming in Cinderella.

Other Credits:

Philip’s long-term contribution to the industry was honoured by making him an Honorary Friend of the Gregnyog Young Musicians Competition. He is also a supporter of a drama group called Ysgol Theatre Maldwyn, which comprises young writers, composers and performers from Montgomeryshire, Mid-Wales.
