San Francisco Ballet UK premiere of new triple bill!
San Francisco Ballet returns to London’s Sadler’s Wells with a stunning new triple bill for 3 performances only. Do not miss your chance to catch these new works by one of the world’s most respected ballet companies. The first piece of the bill is Stanton Welch’s Bespoke. This love letter to ballet is set to the violin concertos of one of the world’s greatest composers, Johann Sebastian Bach. Next you have he critically acclaimed Hummingbird by British choreographer Liam Scarlett. This piece is accompanied by Philip Glass’ Tirol Concerto and is accented with shadowy designs by hsi regular collaborator John Macfarlane. Known as a virtuoso, Justin Peck breaks convention and uses the electronic music of M83 for this last piece of the evening, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming.
Who are the San Francisco Ballet?
Since their creation in 1933, San Francisco Ballet have earned a reputation for pushing boundaries in dance and making history. The company staged the first full-length American productions of Coppélia and Swan Lake. Later, they would create an American holiday tradition by producing the first full-length production of Nutcracker in the United States.
San Francisco Ballet’s head and Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer is Helgi Tomasson. The company’s pieces are accompanied by their own orchestra and they operate one of the most prestigious ballet schools in the country. They are known for commissioning groundbreaking dance from top choreographers, discovering new choreographic talent, and staging modern classics as well as the works that make up the canon of classical ballet.

Each of the evenings is entirely comprised of work that has been created since their last visit. Incredibly, eight of these pieces premiered last year.
