Discover MADDADDAM, a thrilling contemporary ballet inspired by Margaret Atwood’s dystopian trilogy. Choreographed by Wayne McGregor and set to an original score by Max Richter, this multi-sensory epic explores a world transformed by catastrophe, where humanity’s survivors must find a new way to live.
MADDADDAM is a dystopian ballet inspired by Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy, bringing together themes of survival, scientific ambition and the future of humanity. Set in a world devastated by a bio-engineered pandemic, this epic production follows a group of survivors as they navigate the dangerous aftermath of civilisation’s collapse.
Across three acts, the story moves between the chaotic world immediately after the catastrophe, the events that led to humanity’s downfall and a distant future shaped by a new species. As memories of the past emerge, the ballet explores the consequences of scientific experimentation, the abuse of power and humanity’s relationship with nature.
Blending contemporary dance, striking visual design and Max Richter’s original score, Wayne McGregor’s choreography brings Atwood’s imaginative world to life. The result is a thought-provoking exploration of extinction, reinvention and the possibility of a different future.
