BRITISH YOUTH OPERA is a company that bridges college and conservatoire training with the opera profession for emerging singers, musicians and technical trainees. The culmination of its annual programme is two fully staged operas.
Johnathan Dove’s hugely successful modern masterpiece, Flight first performed in 1998, receives its first London performances by British Youth Opera. Set in a busy airport, and inspired by a true story, the opera presents a group of people whoese lives happen to intersect on one particular day. Their interactions and relationships are illuminated by Dove’s pulsating and thriling colourful score.
