Chitty Chitty Bang Bang London tickets

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is an adaptation of the 1968 musical film starring Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes. 

With the much-loved classic songs with the characters you know and love, the eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, his children Jeremy and Jemima, and Truly Scrumptious singing the songs, ‘Truly Scrumptious’, ‘Hushabye Mountain’ and ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’. 

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is currently playing at the Watermill Theatre in Bagnor, Newbury for the Summer until 13th September.

What is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang about? 

The musical follows an a down-on-his-luck inventor named Caractacus Potts, full of character and a vision, he buys a wrecked Grand Prix racecar. He then transforms the car into a flying car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The family embark on a trip in the car, and get swept into a magical adventure to save their grandfather in the land of Vulgaria. 

Fun facts about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang 

• The show is loosely based on a children’s novel by Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond
• The screenplay was co-written by Roald Dahl and is largely credited with inventing the villain, the Child Catcher
• The director, Peter Jackson, later bought the car in the film
• Dick Van Dyke initially turned down the role, after his Cockney accent was criticised in Mary Poppins. Instead of doing an English accent, he used his own accent.
