Contributor bio I have always loved performing in choirs and the theatre. As a performer I enjoyed amateur dramatics; from acting, dancing and singing in plays and choirs as a child, to jazz and salsa dancing as an adult. In the last 7 years I have been singing and performing in choirs. As a theatre goer my tastes are broad. I relish watching musical theatre, ballet, street, jazz and contemporary dance. I am passionate about plays by a huge range of writers from Shakespeare to Alan Bennett and by modern playwrights such as Matilda Velevitch and James Graham. I am excited by the wide variety of contemporary plays which entertain, challenge and make me feel deeply, by playwrights like Guillem Clua, Louise Orwin and theatre companies such as Talawa. 10 years after a life-threatening road traffic collision left me disabled, I retired from working as a National Officer of a trade union. My extensive writing experience is derived from writing for diverse audiences throughout my various careers. In recent years, I have been inspired to write short fiction after attending creative writing courses; I continue to enter writing competitions. This year, I began writing theatre reviews and I am thrilled by the opportunities to combine two of my loves: live theatre and writing.
