Stardust galore: Harold Pinter, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. This play is a must!

About No Man's Land

Following their hit run on Broadway, Playful Productions introduce the West End run for Harold Pinter's No Man's Land starring Ian McKellen as Spooner and Patrick Stewart as Hirst. We are excited about their return to the UK stage in Sean Mathias’ acclaimed production of No Man’s Land, one of the most brilliantly entertaining plays by Nobel Prize laureate Harold Pinter.

Owen Teale stars as Briggs and Damien Molony as Foster.

Best Availability Monday-Thursday performances from October.

★★★★ "A faithful and loving production that captures both the essential bleakness and paradoxical comedy of this enigmatic masterwork" The Guardian

★★★★ "They are lions of the stage and they roar in this alternately icily restrained and ferocious account of human beings hurtling towards the void..." - The Stage

★★★★ "Ian McKellen gives an acting masterclass" - Radio Times

‘You are in no man’s land. Which never moves, which never changes, which never grows older, but which remains forever, icy and silent'

From the pen of one of our greatest playwrights, comes Nobel Prize laureate Harold Pinter's superb tragicomic gem.

One summer’s evening, two ageing writers, Hirst and Spooner, meet in a Hampstead pub and continue their drinking into the night at Hirst’s stately house nearby.  As the pair become increasingly inebriated, and their stories increasingly unbelievable, the lively conversation soon turns into a revealing power game, further complicated by the return home of two sinister younger men.

No Man’s Land will have set and costume design by Stephen Brimson Lewis and lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski.

Don’t miss this rare treat of four master actors in Pinter’s comic classic and book your tickets now!

Very much enjoyed this excellent show. The tickets were left at the box office and the collection was very easy. We received tickets for the stall in row E which were very good indeed.

The production was spellbinding...what else would it be with such a cast? A word about our booked tickets. My husband is very tall so I booked specifically on the end of a row. Unfortunately the two end seats of row O stalls, particulary the isle seat, is only a very short distance from the row infront! and we both had difficulties getting in. Fortunately two people left in the interval from the two end seats of row M, to which we moved, with much more leg room between us and the row infront so the second act was therefore very comfortable! Should you perhaps check this out?

Poignant, funny, thought provoking.

This is the third production I have seen, including the original - it didn't disappoint, but neither of it's stars, of whom i'm a fan, left the indelible image of Geilgud and Richardson.

Watching two of my favourite actors show off their skills on stage was a real delight. Ian McKellen in particular was on point - your eyes followed him as he worked his way around the entire stage and in and out of the other actors and completed owned the play. Patrick Stewart, as fine an actor as he is, took a back seat to McKellen's performance, while Owen Teale and Damien Molony provide a few chuckles. The direction was so-so, with too many pauses and "nothing" moments, where the audience clearly were anticipating the next excuse to laugh out loud at a reference to alcohol consumption or sexual conquests. But... this was a treat.
